BetVictor Renews Title Sponsorship Of World Championship Of Ping Pong

Matchroom Multi Sport today announced that BetVictor, a leading online gambling company, will again title sponsor the World Championship of Ping Pong, which will take place at the Alexandra Palace, London over the weekend of 25th-26th January 2020.

The BetVictor World Championship of Ping Pong takes place over four sessions, with 64 players who have earned their place through the Global Qualifying Series taking part in double elimination groups in a bid to reach the last 32, at which point the tournament adopts a straight-knockout format.

The tournament will be broadcast live throughout on Sky Sports, DAZN and networks around the world. England’s Andrew Baggaley will be defending champion after he defeated Wang Shibo in front of a packed Ally Pally crowd to lift the 2019 BetVictor World Championship of Ping Pong.

Matchroom Sport Chairman Barry Hearn said: “I am thrilled to welcome BetVictor back as title sponsor of the World Championship of Ping Pong for a second year as part of our continued partnership with BetVictor across a number of different sports.”

“The World Championship of Ping Pong is a non-stop weekend of fast-paced action at Alexandra Palace. Year-on-year we are amazed at the talent of the players who produce the incredible matches which make the BetVictor World Championship of Ping Pong a must-see event.”

Director of Sportsbook at BetVictor Matt Scarrott said: “We’re pleased to be working with Matchroom Multi Sport once again on the BetVictor World Championship of Ping Pong.”

“Ping Pong’s popularity is growing globally. In the UK, for instance, we’re seeing an uptake in social Ping Pong as more and more offices, parks and bars are having Ping Pong tables made available for those that want to play the game. And this partnership will enable us to tap into the growing fanbase of the sport” added Scarrott.

The BetVictor World Championship of Ping Pong moves into its eighth year and is a throwback to the early days of table tennis. The game that fell out of favour with the advent of super-spin inducing rubber bats years ago is returning to the mainstream thanks to a potent mixture of speed, power and old-fashioned skill courtesy of the technology-free sandpaper bats.

Tickets for the 2020 BetVictor World Championship of Ping Pong will be on sale soon via www.worldchampionshipofpingpong.net.
